Her Swan Song has been sung. Ma, Grandma, Yvonne, Yvoncé, Aunty Yvonne, Mrs. Clare sailed on her final destination on July 22, 2024 in the comfort of her home in Chicago, Illinois. She passed away at the age of 69 after a courageous battle with cancer. Yvonne Therese Reneau-Clare was born in Belize, Central America on May 26, 1955, to the late Rosita Lainfiesta Reneau and Joseph Henry Reneau. Beloved daughter, Yvonne, arrived in this world with the same passionate energy she was widely loved for along with a surprise, her twin Josie. Yvonne’s life was a testament to her boundless love for others. She is survived by husband Gilbert “Zul” Clare; her loving daughters Kishea Vanessa Clare-Strong, Jamillah Isha Clare, and her adored grandchildren Julian Alfonso Godinez, Hailey Alexis Clare, Zari Anishea Strong, Kofi Saeed Strong. Her survivors also include siblings Hanifa (Eleanor) Reneau, Alexander Reneau, Karl Reneau, Josephine Reneau-Ellwood, and Juliet Reneau-Burner, along with many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. In 1974, Yvonne packed her suitcase with her zest and love of life and embarked on a new life chapter in the United States. Her unwavering dedication to her family and old and new friends left an indelible imprint and lasting impact on all who knew her. Yvonne was known for her incredible generosity, frequently sending care packages filled with love and thoughtfulness to her loved ones. Her culinary talents were legendary; her rice & beans, ducunu, and stew chicken were celebrated and eagerly anticipated at every family gathering. She and her husband, Zul became renowned for their backyard cookouts, which were anticipated events where friends and neighbors gathered to enjoy great food and warm hospitality. Yvonne’s presence was unmistakable, announced by her audacious voice and the alluring perfumes she wore. Yvonne had a wicked sense of humor that could light up any room. Her love and acceptance of people made her a cherished friend to many. Her nieces and nephews can attest to her great storytelling ability colorfully peppered with a timely placed “F” bomb. Her expressions were unique and vibrant, known for blending poetic sentiment with a colorful use of language that reflected her genuine, unfiltered personality. Her home in Chicago was a special place for her family, many of whom spent many cherished summers there, with a pantry stocked with every snack a kid could desire. Yvonne’s farewell service will be held at Kosary Funeral Home, 9837 S Kedzie Ave, Evergreen Park, IL on Friday August 2, 2024. Visitation will commence from 11AM-12PM followed by the service from 12PM-1PM. A celebration of Yvonne’s life will be held directly afterwards in her home with her family at 7932 S Mozart St., Chicago, IL. Any flowers may be sent Thursday August 1, 2024, to the funeral home. Yvonne’s spirit and love will be profoundly missed but forever cherished. May her memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Information (708) 499-3223.
