Vida Kivenas
Vitalija “Vida” Kivenas, age 77, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024 after a two-year battle with lung cancer. She is the daughter of the late Vytautas and Vale Skrubutonis; loving mother of Romas (Michelle), Nadia, and Algis; cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, beloved sister of Verginia; dearest friend of Lola; and fond aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was born June 5, 1946 in Zeven, Germany and came to the United States in 1951. She lived in the Chicagoland area and graduated from Lemont High School. She loved music, singing, and folk dancing especially when performing with Siauliu dance group. She lived in the moment and loved to travel throughout the country while sharing memorable experiences with her family. Vida was highly creative with an artistic view, and had a passion for finding unique knick-knacks that were meaningful to her. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved more than life and adored to no end. One of the things that stood out most about Vida was how giving she was, always putting others first. She is remembered for her selflessness and is well known for her strong faith in God. Vida’s legacy will live on forever through the many stories she shared and the memories of those who had the opportunity to know her. A funeral service to celebrate Vida’s life will be held at Nativity B.V.M. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 11:00 am and she will be laid to rest at Saint Casimir Catholic Cemetery.
