Sarah Darlene Chirillo, nee O’Reilly, affectionally known by all as “Cookie,” passed away in the loving arms of her children. After a courageous 2-year battle, the Lord called her home on August 4, 2021, mere months after her 70th birthday. She is survived by her loving husband Thomas Chirillo, son Thomas (Gina) Chirillo, daughter Traci (David) LeBlanc, and three grandchildren: Lily, Autumn, and Seth.
Born in Chicago to Rose and Thomas O’Reilly, she was raised in Evergreen Park along with her siblings Kathleen (Gary) Martel, Patricia (Peter) Glikis, James (Linda) O’Reilly, and the late Ronald (Kathy) Reidy. She attended St. Brennan’s Catholic grade school and Evergreen Park High School followed by Don Roberts Beauty School. After styling hair for many years, she went on to work and retire from the Clerk of the Circuit Court.
Sarah lived her life for her children, accommodating hers to provide the best for them. When the kids were young, she would often be found volunteering at their school, attending her son’s baseball games, or hosting her many nieces and nephews for sleepovers. When she became a grandmother, she didn’t miss a beat, dedicating her life to them as well. Spoiling and spending time with her grandbabies was her most favorite thing to do!
Sarah was loved by all, and her laugh and spirit were contagious to everyone who knew her. Undeniably a wonderful wife, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, and most importantly grandmother. A strong woman of faith, her family takes comfort in knowing she will rest in eternal peace.
