Noraine Scarpelli of Chicago, Illinois, age 92, passed away in Georgetown, Texas on September 6, 2018_. Her husband Eugene Scarpelli preceded her in death. She is survived by her children Jeff Scarpelli and Noraine Eberlin, their spouses Diane Scarpelli and Jim Eberlin; grandchildren Gordon Eberlin, David Eberlin and his wife Sarah, Brian Scarpelli and his wife Rebecca, Maureen Scarpelli, JT Scarpelli and Joanna Scarpelli; great-grandchildren Sadie Eberlin (David and Sarah) and Daniel Scarpelli (Brian and Rebecca).
Noraine worked as a crossing guard and retail clerk before settling in as an assistant at the Chicago Public Library in Brighton Park where she remained for over 20 years. She was an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction and developed an extensive knowledge and active interest in the collection of antiques and collectibles of all kinds, dolls in particular. In retirement, she and husband Gene enjoyed traveling. When not with a book in her hands, Noraine demonstrated exceptional talent for sewing, knitting, and other hand crafts. Her Christian Faith was central in her life. Her sense of humor was contagious. Her love of life, family and friends was abiding. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church (Oak Lawn) and supporter of St. Paul Lutheran School.
A visitation and viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. on September 12 at St. Paul Lutheran Church,
4660 W 94th St. in Oak Lawn. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Gravesite internment will follow
immediately at Bethania Cemetery, 7701 South Archer Ave, Justice, Il.
