Jackie Dean McElroy, Jr., age 47; known by his community as “Red”; cherished son of Patricia (James) Clettenberg and the late Jackie Dean McElroy, Sr.; grandson of the late Oscar and late Mary Coriell; also the late Florence and late Albert Conrad; and the late James McElroy; dear brother of Nicholas McElroy; step brother of Amy (Tom) Hansen, and Crissy (Tim) Gregori. Jackie was a proud Navy veteran and was quite handsome in his uniform. Even through life’s challenges, Jackie always maintained a kind heart and a charming personality. He was well known in his Back of the Yards community as a prolific street artist and “Bruno’s dad.” Bruno was a constant source of joy in Jackie’s life and was his loyal companion for the past 8 years. Bruno stood by Jackie’s side, offering unconditional love and protection. Bruno has found a new loving family who has welcomed him into their home, ensuring he receives the care and treats he deserves. In addition to being an animal lover, Jackie was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox, Bulls, Bears, and BlackHawks. Jackie also loved his large SouthSide Irish family and was quick to share a memory or a funny story about them. This is a heartbreaking loss for his many cousins, and family members.  He is preceded in death by a great number of aunts and uncles, and the family takes solace in knowing those angels are accompanying him on his journey to heaven. Unfortunately, Jackie did not have insurance or extensive veterans’ benefits, so lieu of flowers, donations in his loving memory may be made to a Gofundme.com account set up in his name.  He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
