Barbara J. Stender, 77, went home to be with the Lord on December 3, 2020, after battling multiple myeloma for over 3 years. She was surrounded by her loving family in her home and the presence of the Lord who now sings over her. The prayers and sincere love expressed by her family members and friends, both old and new, gave her the hope and blessed assurance that she would see them again.
She served the purposes of God for her family, church and community as an art teacher, ESL educator and an active member of Maranatha Chapel and the Gideons.
Barbara married William Stender on August 1, 1964 in Chicago, IL. Together they raised their five children. From the very beginning, they dedicated their children to God and depended on Him for guidance in raising them throughout their lives.
Barbara is survived by her husband, William; her children, Jeff, Amy (Mark) Rupsch, Anna (Jerauld) Rekow, Eric (Christine) and Curt (Emily); her 13 grandchildren, Ethan, Rebekah, Joshua, Corbin, Haven, Silas, Winnie, Abigail, Elijah, Caleb, Bethany, Riley, Jaxon; and her brother, Warren (Lorraine) Bloom of Chicago, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Florence Bloom.
Barbara will be buried at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. There will be a public visitation on Monday, December 7 at Kosary Funeral Home in Evergreen Park, IL from 4-8pm and a private family service at Maranatha Chapel, Evergreen Park, IL, on Tuesday, December 8 with Reverend Doug Banks officiating.
