Alma Maria Jodka; passed away April 22, 2016; only child of the late Nicodemus and the late Maria Jodka; born in Lithuania on July 14, 1941. She and her parents arrived in the United States on January 20, 1951. They came by way of Bremerhaven, Germany and landed in New York City. Somehow they made their way to Chicago and made it their home.
Alma went to grade school on the south side and graduated Parker High School in 1959. After graduating, she went to work at the Chicago Public Library, worked at an art studio and worked in retail clothing for a while. In 1974 she was hired at Andersen Consulting (Accenture) where she worked as an Executive Assistant for the next 25 years until she retired in 1999.
Alma loved to read, go to dinner at fine restaurants and shop! She also loved fine art and beautiful silver jewelry. She was fortunate enough to have traveled all over Europe and enjoyed going to Mexico regularly. She also enjoyed a good cup of coffee!!
Alma loved her friends and her friends loved her. She would offer to do all she could to make her friends’ lives easier. By the same token, her friends would do the same for her.
Alma’s life will be celebrated by her good friends, Betty Johnson, Susan Kane, and Kathy McNamara; Natalie and Bo Jarnstedt of Connecticut; Karen Jops of Detroit; Dr. Jessica Lippman; Mohammed her driver and other relatives of her friends; co-workers and associates.
